Review on Guardsman Water Mark Remover Cloth by Melanie Williams

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It worked so well for me!

Edit: I still recommend this product. A limitation. Four years ago I cleaned my antique desk, put the Guardsman fabric in a resealable bag and tucked it in my desk drawer. Today I have some new water damage tables to edit. (Heavy damage.) I took out the old cloth and it went rancid. I guess four years is a fair amount of time to expect things to go wrong, so I'm not being naughty. I have time to order a new pack and clean these tables. I'm only commenting if anyone has tight deadlines and old stuff. Previous review: I had old water and heat damage on my vintage table. I thought I'd never be able to get rid of them, but now I know better! It took me about half an hour of hard work, but almost everything worked out. The only reason I didn't finish it completely was because a) I ran out of energy and b) it was good enough. (Perfect is the enemy of good.) I washed off the residue with Murphy's Wood Oil Soap. I may do another pass with another cleaner as there is some haze left. (You can see this in the "after" picture. There's more haze in the picture than meets the eye.) My fingertips are a bit sensitive now, so in retrospect I should have put on gloves. However, this is not scary; If I didn't have gloves and needed to clean up more water damage, I'd do it barehanded again. I thought I was only going to work with grained fabric, but it turned out I had to work in all directions. Strokes over the grain removed some of the watermarks that the grain strokes didn't correct. In the photos: the color of my table has not changed. The color change from one photo to another was solely an artifact of my phone's camera. TL; DR It worked great!
