Review on πŸ”” PDW Alexander Graham Bell - Steerer Tube Mountable Bicycle Bell by Josh Whitehead

Space-saving perfection

Bicycle bell manufacturers are years behind the times. They deliberately ignored the fact that bike handlebars are getting thicker, bike straps are getting thicker, and there are more and more bags, lights, and computers vying for space in riders' hands. More than half of the bells I looked at - the models that are still on sale - do not fit my bike in any position. PDW took a different approach. They decided to do away with the handlebar mount entirely and instead replaced the gasket on the headset. If you have a set of allen keys, you can install this bell in under two minutes. And if you do, oh my god! The mount is well made, strong and durable. I firmly believe that it will survive any number of crashes (forgive me for not explicitly testing that statement). The ergonomics are great - I can reach the lever and squeeze it easily with my hands on the steering wheel (although my hands are bigger than some). And here's the bell itself - a beautifully polished brass that looks almost as beautiful as it sounds. The sound is loud (but not too loud) and the perfect resonance - not the rapidly decaying dissonance of Incredibell, but something that lingers for a few seconds for you to enjoy. It's not the cheapest ringer, the most compact ringer, or even the best selling ringer, but after trying a few of these, this is without a doubt my favorite ringer.
