Review on πŸ’ͺ Hyphen-X 100W GaN PPS USB C Charger: Powerful Fast Charging for MacBook, iPhone, iPad, Galaxy, Dell XPS & More - 4 Ports (White) by Christine Castrillon

Revainrating 4 out of 5

First works seem to be good. I like it.

I've been eyeing the Hyper Juice 100W Kickstarter Charger for a while. If I hadn't missed the early bird price I would have bought it then. I started reading negative reviews about the Hyper Juice charger; I didn't like the first design. The charger sets the charge rate for everything when you first plug it in. If you add/remove devices after plugging the charger into an outlet, the charging speed will not change. I haven't personally tested it, but reading about it, it was a big minus. I took a chance on Hyphen-X as it doesn't have many reviews and I don't have anything else from them. So far I'm happy with my purchase. I charged my laptop, phone and various USB devices (battery packs, bluetooth speakers). My laptop and phone are charged through the USB-C port. I kept them both without a charger for a whole day and everything was fine. When I unplugged one of them the other kept charging and when both were plugged in they charged too, my phone (Android) always said fast charge. The documentation states that the power output is 100W when using 1 USBC port. Power output 65W and 30W when both USBC ports are used. I plan to test the wattage and will update my review when I get these results. The reason I gave it 4 stars is that the performance on the USBA ports was low when I had 4 devices connected. I left both USBC ports in use and tested the USB ports. When using a single USBA port (18W USBA), the speaker's charge indicator lit up as expected. When using two USBA ports (7.5W per USBA port) (all 4 ports are used), one of the charging LEDs of the USBA device is off (charging has stopped). 7.5W = 5V x 1.5A, which should be enough to charge a USB device. For example, these older, small, square iPhone chargers are rated at 5W (5V x 1A). I love the versatility that 2 USB ports and 2 USB ports offer at the moment. Maybe one day I want 4 USBC, but for now this mix is good. I'm not ready to leave my laptop charger at home just yet, but if it turns up on some trips I will. .
