Surprisingly easy. And it really works!
When my kids were much younger, my wife and I would take films home and then record them on a VCR (which was state of the art technology at the time). We kept a VCR and cassettes for years but couldn't play them on our current TV as it only has HDMI inputs. But AV to HDMI allowed me to connect a VCR to my TV and convert the analog signal to digital (unlike some of the cheaper "crossover" cables). And to my great surprise, the Dingsun device also included a new HDMI cable and a new RCA cable, as well as an RCA extension if needed.
