Soothing sounds, distracting lights and hard-to-read controls

White noise Wakotone sound machine for infants adults children 34 natural soothing sounds 7-color night light Timer and memory function Portable sleep mode Noise generator for home use , Office, Travel The sound machine comes in a small box with a photo on the outside of the product. In the box above you will find the sound machine, an instruction manual and a USB to USB-C charging cable. The bottom looks like a square block and is lined with a soft rubber material so it won't scratch the countertop or slide too easily. There are vents on the sides, which I believe are speaker grilles and a charging plug port on one side. At the top are various buttons for controlling sound and lighting. There's nothing to show what the charge status is like when you first unbox it. Looking through the directions the only mention of the strength they have is a range of bright colors. When I turned it on, there was a tiny colored LED next to the power button that glows blue when the device is on, blinks blue to indicate low battery, red. When the device is charging and green when fully charged. The instructions go on to say that the charging time should be at least 4 hours, so I'm guessing that in this case it will take some time to recharge the battery. It is recommended to clean it with a soft, dry cloth. The buttons on the top of the device are labeled with the generic symbols you are used to; play, pause, continue - you have the idea. Unfortunately, the manufacturer used a highlight color that blends into the background and makes it difficult to see unless you have a bright light; which I think somewhat reduces its effectiveness as a shortcut. White writing on a silver background made me reach for my glasses. When first switched on. This is the sound of a foghorn, but you can switch between the sounds to choose the one you want. Once you set the sound you want, you can choose a timeout and turn on the night light if you want. . Using the same button you use to set the sleep timer, you can toggle the night light between its different colors, many different combinations are available with RGV options. You can even set it to cycle through different colors. We found that switching between different colors didn't help with the calm, as each cover change has a sharp fade instead of a slower fade that would be a little quieter. There are no settings to change the brightness of the light, a dimmer would be useful.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No automatic controls
