Revainrating 5 out of 5

We love it. - my new rating

We have a quasi-gaming PC on which we also store school photos and occasionally surf the internet. An 850W Corsair PSU with 16GB of RAM, a 1.5TB HDD, a 500GB Intel SSD running the OS and an MSI Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 GPU. Aside from the 46-inch 1080p Sharp Aquos, which we rarely plug in, our only other monitor was an old HP 23-inch widescreen monitor with only VGA/DVI outputs. I don't remember the resolution, but it's not very good, the monitor is 7 years old. It's time for a new monitor and we've decided on this one. So we don't really have a good basis for comparison. Although we both have iPad Air 2 and iPhone users. REVIEW. Installation was very easy, no screws. Simply slide the panel into the stand and you're done. The panel rises and falls, tilts back and forth, and rotates to portrait mode fairly easily. Out of the box there are no dead pixels or other issues. The color rendering is very nice. Beautiful colors, when viewing high-resolution photos you see a clarity and brightness that wasn't there before. Wider color gamut and sharper edges. The wide screen makes it easy to see two windows. Web pages are crisp, albeit compressed, sometimes with white spaces on the sides. Icons are smaller due to resolution. Pixels are still visible, albeit much smaller than 1080p. It doesn't quite compare to Apple's Retina displays, but that's only because of its size. The pixels are not visible from a distance of about 3 meters. If you sit close at a distance of about 18 inches, you can do this. It's definitely better than 1080p. My husband plays Witcher 3, Skyrim, Rome, Age of Empires and some other similar games. This handles them well, although it's clear that our GPU gets hotter than at 1080p.

Pros
  • Great monitor. The only problem for me is the relatively wide frame.
Cons
  • The cable is shorter than other picks.
