I have purchased and used about a half dozen "shock collars" over the years. The NVK collar is one of the best collars I've tried, but with a few downsides. The "receiver" is HUGE (due to the VERY large battery, no doubt, and the battery lasts really LONG), which isn't a problem for a large dog. but just know that it really is HUGE. And since I'm using it for the "Cat", VERY female singer, that's a problem. The "vibration mode" is almost useless even at the highest settings. my cat and of course a medium to large sized dog, I don't think I even realize it. the same applies to "Sound Mode" (which is not adjustable). In the past I've always been able to use the "Vibration Mode" to get my cat to stop being so damn loud. I don't have that option with the NVK collar. I'm forced to use "shock" mode. but IMMEDIATELY solves the WARRING cat problem. Thank god the beat mode is very adjustable! Yes, I know this thing isn't for cats, but... you do what you have to do. I've had her for 7 years now and have had to deal with her cry. She has no "skills" to survive outdoors. While she is in the "country" she will not survive even a day as a predator will eat her for lunch. Honestly, I've thought about "housing" her many times, but for my sake and for HER, I can't think of anyone who would be willing to put up with her just screaming like a "house cat." and I'm afraid she ends up in an orphanage and eventually will. And yes, she's "neutered," but like her identical brother, she just screams all the time. GREAT RELATIONSHIP, this is the ONLY device I have found that has a "battery indicator" on the "transmitter" for both the transmitter and receiver AND the batteries last a long, long, long time. For a long time! So I got "defective"? I do not know. I'll probably "try" to contact the seller to find out. Bj Palestine, Texas
