Review on Thule Women's Capstone Atlantic Backpack for Hiking and Daypacks by Guled Hamilton

This is a great lightweight backpack for hot and humid/rainy weather. The back freedom with mesh really helps keep you cool and sweat less. The padding on the thighs is also ribbed for extra ventilation. Nylon has a water-repellent finish. The rain cover is easily accessible and easy to put on and take off. The large pouch with "Push-it" written on the outside of the bag has ventilation at the bottom. Just said it has a different suspension and waist belt. They don't look any different in the photos and videos showing both, so the differences aren't obvious. The size range can be the main or only difference. According to Thule's size chart, the women's version of this 40 liter Capstone has an adjustable waist belt that fits waist sizes from 25 to 45 inches, while the men's version measures 27 to 47 inches. The adjustable torso length is also shorter at 14-19 inches for women, 16-21 inches for men. The rest of the backpack is the same. Both women and men carry the same amount of things. The body length adjustment means that the shoulder straps are moved up and down on the frame with a push of a button in the middle of the frame. It's actually quite nice, really helps get the perfect fit. The chest strap is also adjustable, moving up and down about 6 inches on each side with heavy tension. The rigid frame measures 19" top to bottom and 13" at its widest point. Usually the packed bag is about 21 inch and 13 inch. "Wide, but you can pack it so the bag is up to 26" tall and 16" wide. The main compartment goes top to bottom with an approximately 6" zipper at the bottom and a drawstring closure at the top. Interior Main Compartment The compartment on the back (frame) is a pouch that is 12 inches in diameter and 15 inches high, open at the top. Not sure what it's for - the access is too narrow, too wide inside and it's not flat because the frame isn't flat The lid that comes down from the top has a zipped pocket that's the same width and depth as the pocket and is about 3 inches tall when full. There's an open top pocket on the outside that Thule calls a "carry bag." It is 14" tall and at 13" wide at the top, it tapers to 8" wide at the bottom with 3" thickness on the sides. Mesh pockets on bottom sides are approximately 7" tall and 5" wide and open at top front at an angle. Located on right hip belt is a zippered mesh pocket, nearly 8" long and tapered to fit a 5.1 to 10 .2 cm high belt, with extra fabric all around to allow for more room. The lid can be attached to the top of the bag. There are straps on the outside to keep things in place. The only thing I miss is that there are no dedicated mounts for photo equipment, laptop or tablet, no padded pockets. There's also no pocket for water bottles, although they can be attached in other ways, including in a VersaClick holster (sold separately). The shoulder straps have loops for drinking tubes. The VersaClick system consists of two plastic clips on the left waistbelt that accept several separately sold accessories such as a water bottle holder or zippered wallet. This backpack comes with an attached cane holder strap. The instructions are not entirely clear on how to remove and attach accessories. There is a clip on each side of the mount (except for the bottle cage which only has one clip). For each clamp you need to lift the bottom out and push or pull up. It is quite stiff and requires a firm hand, at least for the stick holder. To attach something to the VersaClick, align the clips with the receivers and slide them in. The backpack looks exceptionally well designed and well built. The nylon material is light (mostly 200 denier) but strong (200 denier is Robic's durable nylon, according to the website). The seams are tight and secure. Lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects. Made in Vietnam.
