I bought this because the buttons keep pressing when my key is in my pocket - I hum here when I sit down to eat or get out and realize my battery is low because the trunk has opened. The lid should definitely prevent the lock/unlock buttons from being pressed and I'm hoping that the rubber layer will make it harder to accidentally open the trunk. BUT there is a thin strip of rubber between the lock/unlock buttons that keeps catching and pulling a bit. My guess is that the strip comes off, then the whole cover comes off - we'll see.
