They are great and necessary. Our family has 2 Fire/Kindle tablets, an iPad mini 2 and a full sized iPad. We have the Otterbox Defender cases (the most expensive case), the standard flip case and many more. I first bought one of these foam cases for kids Kindles and now replace all of our cases with these pristine foam cases. The foam is similar to the EVA foam used in shoes (like crocodiles). ADVANTAGES: Built-in stand handle prevents falling Foam is lightweight! Adds almost no weight - amazing protection. CONS: The only downside is the extra volume. But these cases are so much more comfortable to hold, carry, and even sit on your lap, so bulk is never an issue. The only time it matters is when you're trying to pack them in a compressed space/bag.
