I ordered this sweater to wear with a bias cut 1940s style skirt. (I regularly wear vintage styles.) The cropped fit with the gather on the shoulders made it more of a 40s style. I wear a US10 (5’7” and 39-33-39) and followed the chart. I figured the sweater would stretch and, as I will wear it as a top, I ordered the L. It fit perfectly.
