I've had this for about 3 months now. For the price it's a good buy - I wanted something that didn't look 1980's and still had switchable alarms. I have it here and I can turn everything off, even the tornado alerts, if I want. It's probably worth noting because I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else that even if you disable all alarms, NWS can still send an NWR wake signal and disable your alarm. They don't do it very often, but can be confusing, especially if you have everything turned off! Processing quality could be better. You have to be careful when you press the directional keys, otherwise it might think you pressed left or right when you pressed up. Eventually you will master it, but it needs to be built better. Going into the menu to see the alarms is a bit silly, but they can be easily toggled on or off with the side switch - not a problem, but rather odd. I should also note that the display is the opposite of what Amazon shows in the photos. Overall the unit works well, looks better than the more expensive alternatives and has served us well through many large storms only waking me up when it mattered :) FWIW, I had no reception problems at all. UPDATE - 2011-01-22============================= I'm having trouble receiving - jWin was quick to contact me, it to service send it in - although I'm not optimistic it will work any better when it comes back. I keep seeing "No Reception" on the LCD. not very reassuring. UPDATE 2.18.2011============================== Got my "repaired" device back yesterday, connected it today have flood warning and winter storm watch, which this radio doesn't seem to know about. I have it next to a window on the outside wall of my house so reception shouldn't be an issue but apparently it is. I can hear NWS broadcasts and radio normally, but it refuses to receive notifications a second time. I've tested my SAME codes several times, trying with and without the leading 0, nothing works. It's garbage. I'm going to try the Sangean CL-100 - I hope I have better luck with it. Will be updated as it works. UPDATE 29.3.2011============================================== ================================================== ================================================== ================================================== ================================================= coming You with it, but he gets weather alerts like a champ.
