Jwin jxm133 for weather radios

This is a great radio, a good buy for the price. And it came very quickly! And now I check Amazon a lot when I'm ready to make a purchase!

Pros
  • Useful beyond intended purpose
Cons
  • Useless features

and it's damn durable and just really good and reliable at everything.

This radio is about 3 years old and it's been damn durable and just all round a very good and reliable unit. My friend borrowed it for the summer and fall and loved it! Too bad the company stopped doing this! Such a good radio!

Pros
  • Availability
Cons
  • I'm concerned

There are better radios out there

Skip this. Yes it does what it's supposed to do, but there are other weather radios out there that do it better. The 4-way navigation button on my radio didn't work unless you pressed the button very hard and pushed up many times and registered it as left, or pushed right and registered it as up. The user interface was also quite clunky.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Negative impression

Out of Service: Weather Radios

I bought this last fall at the end of storm season. Set it up with a backup battery and plug it in. Then we got a tornado warning, which I heard through the city's sirens. But why didn't the radio sound the alarm? I checked the radio, it was on but dead. Won't turn on, replaced batteries, still won't turn on. This is useless for a radio designed to warn us of danger. Nothing compares to an emergency alert system that fails without warning in the first 4 months. I cannot in good conscience…

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • So far so good

to use pain. then it broke

The thing is badly designed, badly designed scrap. It went offline in less than 12 hours. When I got home from work on the first day, it squeaked and got very hot. The transformer block also got hot. I'm worried my house will burn down if I don't get home on time! I don't think it's UL listed (ie the insurance industry doesn't think it's safe) and will look for it next time I buy plug in electronics. The interface is terrible: it's full of endless menus and the navigation arrows are difficult…

Pros
  • handy thing
Cons
  • for pensioners

No reception NWS SAME - doesn't alert me to ongoing alerts

I've had this for about 3 months now. For the price it's a good buy - I wanted something that didn't look 1980's and still had switchable alarms. I have it here and I can turn everything off, even the tornado alerts, if I want. It's probably worth noting because I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else that even if you disable all alarms, NWS can still send an NWR wake signal and disable your alarm. They don't do it very often, but can be confusing, especially if you have everything turned…

Pros
  • Rapid change
Cons
  • Almost never
