I often find overhead lights on airplanes uncomfortable and as I always carry a power bank with me to charge my phone I would give it a try. I find the short lights too small to really be used for reading, but definitely bright enough to use to find things on the floor. The high light on the lowest of the three settings is very comfortable for reading on the plane, for reference I keep my phone's brightness as low as possible. The highest setting will probably correspond to the maximum brightness of the phone. The bracket is long enough to put the battery under the book, keep the book at the best reading angle, and position the light high enough to be used.
