Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great modem but very hot

This modem was purchased on Black Friday. Before I start, my short list of credentials is: I work from home (so that's very useful) and in IT security. That being said, I was fed up with Comcast limiting my speeds at certain times of the day and night, so I bought this modem to try and bypass them all together. I pay 105 and definitely didn't get it. Now my modem and router are on the 3rd floor and I work on the second floor. I know the router is a major source of speed issues, but a 24-hour dip is unacceptable in my opinion, and when I ran a speed test next to the router, it was only about 40. So I installed my new Netgear Built-in modem. My new speed tests on the 3rd floor (next to the router about 70-80 down and about 15 up. On the second floor where I work (just ran a speed test as I write this review / see attached photos) I get 63 .68 down and 10.26 up, which is a HUGE improvement over using a Comcast modem Yes, and for you gamers who use a direct connection (I connect my Xbox One directly to LAN port 1), when i ran a speed test although the xbox showed 122 down (which is higher than i pay) to say i like it but there are a few issues gave them (if i remember correctly) the mac - and serial number to the modem and I was up and running within minutes Cons: - My only major issue is how hot it gets, I'm not sure if this is normal for this modem and I have yet to address this Netgear turn around. When I speak passionately; I mean not warm to the touch, I mean borderline that I'm worried about the components inside melting/melting. That's why I'm only giving 4 stars and not 5. I hope this review has been helpful and I will try to answer all your questions.
