So Wanted to Love This.

Alright, full disclosure-I'm the AGM at a swimschool. Once a week, I have a shift that we call Site Managing. I call in our swimmers, and make sure they get to the right coach. I help the coaches run the lessons, settle down scared or upset kids, go over skills, etc.-all from the deck. Now, because we work with small children our pool is a nice 88 degrees, the pool deck itself is a balmy 90 with about 60 percent humidity. In other words, it gets hot-real quick. One of the guards had one of these, and swore it was a lifesaving-so when I saw this I had to try it out.It does push up air, however it just circulates the air around me, so it's forcing hot air up onto your face-which means it isn't doing quite what I had hoped. I will say for the price this is a pretty sturdy little unit, and the battery life is great! I used it on and off during a four hours shift, came home and used it while doing some cleaning-and it's still going strong ( I would guess I've used it for about five hours total). In the short term this is great for getting some air circulating around, but it wasn't necessarily cooling me off. (I know, I know.I do know how a fans work, but when you're that hot you'll try and hope for anything!) I do think this could be a great option if you are say, doing some yard work and the temp outside is relatively comfortable. My son has taken this to basketball practice and he likes it;says it does the trick-the key is that the gym is a relatively comfortable 72 degrees.

Pros
  • Bladeless design is safe and ideal for younger children
Cons
  • Inconvenient to use while exercising
