Consider the import. for carpenter's square

The Starret combination square is overpriced. Currently, the Chinese produce locksmith tools that meet fairly high quality standards. The problem with the Starret combo square isn't the materials, it's the non-adjustable distance between the tools and the attached steel ruler. A little play, for example with a center finder, will result in an inaccurate center setting. This is not the case for many imported combination squares. The EPA with the Clean Air Act ruined the Made in USA campaign. So don't be afraid to buy imported instruments in many cases. After reviewing the latest locksmith tools from China at a recent trade and industry conference, I decided to purchase an imported combination square from China to replace the Starret for about $45. No more play between the tool and the attached steel ruler.
