Breathable, multicolored fabric for hot weather

Columbia Women's Standard Silver Ridge Lite Long Sleeve Shirt, Light Braid, Extra Large. First, find the words Omni-Shade on the upper left sleeve. If it doesn't, you don't have the right stuff. The fabric is very light and the weave looks like a tiny checkered pattern. It really reflects heat. I wanted this shirt for hot sun and light mosquitoes. Ordered an XL after checking the sizing chart and knew the sleeves would be slightly longer but would fit the bust of a 41C and broad shoulders. The size is perfect. Do not pull on the buttons on the chest. The second most important area is under the armpits, where you can hold your hands with your camera and binoculars. There is plenty of room in this area so nothing gets pinched or tangled. Despite being an XL size, it still has a slightly tailored look, making it more flattering than a men's shirt. Slightly shorter at the front and longer at the back so it looks better when unfolded. Simple chest pockets with Velcro. No extras like glasses holders, pen holders or additional smaller pockets for fishing. Only 2 front smooth pockets. There is no corner at the bottom of the shirt to clean glasses. The sleeves reach to the ankles for more mosquito protection, or I can adjust the buttons at the wrist to keep the sleeve in place when I don't want it hanging down my arms, and an extra button above the wrist, to close the sleeve. Gap. The fabric is smooth and thin, so rolled up cuffs aren't left alone. The sleeve needs to be rolled up above the elbow for the inner tongue to fasten with a button. Fortunately, thin fabrics will gather or shrink in the crook of your elbow, just like heavier fabrics. I just wish the tab had more options for adjusting the length of the folded cuff. The back is only ventilated on the sides, it is NOT ventilated over the entire upper back like the PFG Bahama. The fabric is stretchy so it doesn't restrict range of motion or pull-ups with outstretched arms. The fabric doesn't crease a bit. After washing, it needs to be straightened and then hung to dry. Easily wrinkled item is suitable for equipment for outdoor activities. Not too wrinkled when I pulled it out of my package. Do not pull behind your back when touching with your arms fully extended in front. I went for a 10km walk in the hot sun wearing this fully buttoned shirt as a sun protection layer over my tank top. Between breaks, I unbuttoned this outer layer and faced the wind, and the fabric cooled me and dried instantly. Other shirts I've bought for hot weather have left me feeling tight, overheated, soaked and felt the need to take them off because my skin couldn't breathe. Although I was sweating profusely from the exertion on this hike, the Omni-Shade fabric on this Silver Ridge never felt like I was wearing a soaked material. During that time I never wanted to take this shirt off. The fabric is breathable and ventilation is excellent. Omni Shade fabric is what you need. I have tried many other types and brands but this one feels better. My color is Lichen and it's a soft sage green that I really like. A strange thing - I kept feeling a sharp pang on the right side of my waist. When I took the shirt off I found a hidden zipper in the side seam that is a pocket. I can't find a good use for this bag. It is sewn backwards, not forwards. It's big enough for 3 fingers and only about 4 inches deep. It's big enough for a credit card or cash (a great way to destroy both in the laundry!). It would be terribly impractical for keys, too small for any cell phone, and a stupid place to actually store anything.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Hard to tell
