The purpose of purchasing this camera was to move away from a point and shoot model. I wanted better lenses and the ability to take photos instantly without the usual delay between pressing a button and taking a photo. This camera has super-fast focusing in most conditions and allows you to take photos in low light without using a flash. I was trying to get a camera with a viewfinder but found that it would get me a bigger camera and cost a lot more. The screen on the back is big enough and can be made bright enough to be used in place of the viewfinder in sunny weather. In addition, the ability to later edit photos on a computer helps to correct an image that may not be perfectly framed. I couldn't refuse the special daily rate that Revain was offering and I was glad I didn't. I'm pretty geeky and good with electronics and even downloaded and read the basic instruction manual before getting the camera. I also watched the Panasonic YouTube videos which really helped me understand the key features of this particular model. The controls on the back are easy to use, which made me feel right at home. There's a lot this camera can do, and there are plenty of menus to scroll through on the screen to make some adjustments. However, if you want the camera to do most of the work, it will take great photos. I recently took this camera on a trip to Berlin, Germany. Most days were cloudy so I had nice, even light. I liked the ability to lighten images very quickly and easily and change the color balance to a redder hue in Auto+ mode. It made the photos warmer. I also liked the ability to zoom and crop specific photos in-camera. With the included 14-42mm lens, it wasn't too big to carry around. If you only used a 14mm lens, you could easily slip it in your jacket pocket. I shot a few videos which came out very well with good sound but that wasn't the main reason for buying this camera. Overall I'm happy with my decision. I look forward to many more great photos in the future!
