Washed before use and came out of the dryer crumpled. Follow the manufacturer's washing and drying instructions. I was hoping my cats wouldn't damage the blanket I put inside. And by covering the duvet, I can wash the duvet and keep the duvet clean. For two days, a cat made a small hole in the ceiling, but not the ceiling. A duvet is similar in structure to a sheet, maybe a little thicker. It's pretty soft to the touch. I still love this product and will be purchasing another one in due course. Despite my criticism, you have to be realistic. I doubt any cotton fabric comes out of the tumble dryer wrinkle-free. The solution is just a swipe. And I doubt any fabric can withstand my cats' sharp claws. To be realistic I give this product two thumbs up.
