I started shaving with a DE safety razor earlier this year after hearing from many other people how much nicer it was. After experimenting with a cheap razor and its associated blades, and reading a few reviews of some of the most popular blades available, the Gillette 7 O'Clock Sharp seemed like one of the best options, and damn it if it wasn't. . They're sharp enough to get an incredibly close shave every day and cheap enough that I can afford to throw one away after using both sides without feeling wasteful. Instead of paying $1 and change for the cartridge razors I've used since high school, I now spend less than 10 cents per blade and shave super clean every morning. Every once in a while I have to resort to a cartridge razor when I accidentally cut myself too deep and need to heal the wound. When I have to switch back to a shaving unit, it feels like I'm holding a toy. But going back to my DE safety razor makes me feel like I use the tool in my shop.
