You can use them together or separately. There are two lights that come pre-assembled, but it only takes a few minutes to assemble them from the box. The lights can be adjusted to different angles to help you see what you need better. They are great for the zoom that everyone is into these days, as well as making videos, taking photos and just having more light to see since my office is so dark.
