Review on πŸ”† GE Lighting 83645 350 Lumen Refrigerator: Brighten Up Your Fridge with Enhanced Illumination by Ryan Eppinger

Absolutely perfect light bulb for this size fridge

GE LED Light Bulb, A15 Model Number 83645, 4.5W, 350 Lumens, 40W Lumen Equivalent, 5000 Kelvin (Daylight), Medium Socket. Seems perfect in every way. Nothing pleases. The picture shows a frosted bulb, which is actually transparent. This is fine if you're using it in the fridge, where you never look directly at the bulb. I've lived my whole life without a fridge bulb because I know that they (traditional lightbulbs) emit 95% of their energy as heat and 5% as light. This problem is completely solved with LED technology, which is closer to 95% light. BTW, if you're curious what the specs mean, Wikipedia puts it this way: A15 refers to form factor, or physical size and shape. "A" means the traditional pear shape and "15" is the diameter: 15/8", so 1-7/8". The most common, larger size (60W equivalent) is A19. The middle socket is the most common standard incandescent bulb socket, also called "E26" or Edison socket, with a diameter of 26 mm. (E27 is functionally the same.) 5000 Kelvin refers to the temperature and color that an object emits at that (very hot) temperature. Colder (lower number) is redder, and hot (higher number) is bluer. However, this is of course not the actual temperature of the light bulb, but only the corresponding color.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful
