Review on Philips SHN2500 Noise Canceling Discontinued Manufacturer by Ronald Duguay

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent value for money for good noise canceling headphones

Wow, I'm amazed at the number of bad reviews for the Philips SHN2500 noise canceling headphones. Not sure what people expect for the price but I was very happy with the quality of the product. I didn't buy my headphones from Revain (unfortunately) so I paid more than the price advertised on Revain, but I still think the headphones are good value. The headphones have good sound and EFFECTIVELY block out some of the noise around you. For example, I was in the back row of an Embraer 145 (a small jet with engines mounted next to the back row of the plane) and I heard almost no engine noise. I was able to listen to my music and podcasts with little to no distraction. I've used traditional iPods on similar aircraft only to find that my iPod lacks the "volume" to drown out the engine noise. This is clearly not the case when I used Philips SHN2500 headphones. What more could you want for this price? One complaint - after about 2 hours the headphones became a little uncomfortable in the ears. Are there any of their best products on the market? Be sure to check out these Sony Mdrnc22/Blk Noise Canceling Headphones (Black) Bose® QuietComfort® 2 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® Headphones $100 Panasonic RP-HC500 Noise Canceling Headphones $91 Sennheiser PXC 300 Noise Canceling Headphones $150 Sennheiser PXC 350 Active Noise Canceling Headphones (Black) $250 I think you get the picture - if you're looking for a premium product they're there, but you'll have to pay a hefty dollar amount for the extra sound quality. 5 stars overall
