I realized too late that more mass = more warmth. I have a poorly air conditioned top floor so that was a problem for me. I've resorted to covering just the bottom half of the legs and feet and it works for me. In winter, the thing will probably be a stroke of luck. I don't know how I caught a cold while using it. I have the 25 lb version which is very difficult to use as a blanket due to the weight. Not recommended for the elderly or children who cannot lift much weight. If you do this, you may have to ask a younger friend or family member to make your bed. This can be avoided by folding it into parts and storing it by its feet only. It keeps the sheets from moving and is SUPER comfortable. I toss and turn a lot while I sleep and I've used it between the sheets and duvet and everything, all the sheets, turned into a complete mess in the morning, even more so than usual. Works a lot better when it used over a blanket. In fact, when used as the top layer, it holds the rest of the sheets together and prevents them from moving. Because of this, I highly recommend using it as the top layer of your bedding. If like me you find that your sheets are a total mess by morning, using it properly as a top layer will put an end to it. Highly recommended!
