My daughter recently had a sinus infection and her 2 year old humidifier has a smaller tank and needs filters so I figured this filterless humidifier was twice the price and should be better. After reading the cleaning instructions, I decided to continue using their other one. In this case, the loss of the filter will not bring additional comfort, but more trouble. The recommended cleaning process is a multi-step chemical process that is more complex than (properly) descaling in a Keurig machine. If you have the patience to do this and can't afford $5-10 filters from other cars (I buy aftermarket to save money), it might be perfect for your needs. For me who has used them about 2-4 weeks a year I prefer to stick with their old one. On this model, also Honeywell, I change the filter and clean all non-mechanical plastic parts with hot soapy water and a little bleach if necessary. *I can't comment on how well the machine works, so my review isn't complete as I haven't even used it. If I had done more research and known how frustrating it would be, I never would have bought. I'm checking, hoping I can save at least one person the hassle of sending it back.
