Needs a small paper filter

My previous single cup coffee maker, Dash, didn't need paper filters, but if you use finely ground coffee this maker leaves a HUGE amount of sludge in the cup if you don't use a small filter like that the round Aeropress microfilters made of paper. They fit snugly on the bottom of the filter basket. Even though this filter doesn't cover the entire basket, only the bottom, it still does a great job of removing almost all of the fine dust from your coffee. The paper filter also makes cleaning faster and cleaner. You can also make your own custom filters by cutting up inexpensive filter baskets. I was thinking of returning this mixpresso machine for two reasons - it requires paper filters (IMO) and the unit also didn't lay flat on my desk - it wobbled a bit front to back (probably just a bug in my particular unit) - but I solved this problem by sticking small felt dots on the two already existing rubber pads. This machine is quiet, fast and has plenty of room to pour water. Be careful not to open the lid too soon after brewing as you may splash hot water on you. Wait until it is fully ready to open the top and empty the filter. I have a theory as to why it throws so much sludge through the included filter: very fast operation. It throws hot water into the coffee so quickly that the particles are pushed through the filter. The paper filters I use keep the water thicker a little longer, which makes the coffee taste much better. I strongly recommend you to buy small round paper filters when you buy this machine. The first few cups I brewed without a paper filter were too bland too, which is a sin in my book! I now have great, rich coffee with very little ground coffee, so I'm happy.
