I BOTH BOTH FILMS PURCHASED - this one and the cheaper one. I like both for different reasons! 1. Yes, the price difference is justified. The more expensive foil creates the rainbows you see in the photos in my house every day and it's almost too bright to look at directly! A cheaper version comes in a much larger sheet, making it perfect for my sliding glass door. ALSO, since it has less intense rainbows, I can look straight into it when the sun is shining and it doesn't sting my eyes. Slight rainbows appear when the sun shines through, but not "prismatic" like the expensive one.3. The application of these two products is slightly different. The more durable/expensive film has a sticky backing and is easier to apply. Cheaper/less bright film has a "sticky" backing that will only stick if you follow the installation instructions very carefully. (Another advantage of the cheaper film is that it can be removed/applied repeatedly from the bottom - every morning I roll it up a few inches so the cats can look out the window, and then roll it back up at night so no one sees them can see through my balcony door.) EDIT: When moving out of the apartment where I installed it, the more expensive film didn't peel off. The cheaper one broke easily.
