Review on πŸ“Έ Bower SFD728C: Enhancing Canon E-TTL II with TTL Autofocus Flash by Jared Bradford

Okay, you get what you pay for

I would rate this flash as ok. This flash is a replacement for a cheaper item I purchased that didn't work with my camera. Another flash wasn't detected at all and didn't flash, so I had to buy something cheaper. I own a Canon Rebel XS/1000d, I shoot with wall lenses from SLR film cameras (28mm-80mm) and save fifty bucks. I'm just an amateur photographer who wants to take great pictures of my kids. The flash is not very strong (especially after I had another flash). This flash has an on/off button, but there is no way to adjust the flash power itself from the camera interface. What does that mean? Basically, You really need to use that flash properly to get the results you want. You need to know when it's appropriate to bounce off the wall or ceiling. If you reflect the light wrong, you'll end up with weird shadows. Proper use is easy to learn though, as the flash can rotate 330 degrees and rotate 90 degrees for impact. I've already taken over 100 shots with this flash (as of yesterday), may need to change batteries soon, but the flash still works, for anyone interested, the reviews of less than 20 photos taken before the failure. The assembly is a bit cheap and I am very concerned that the base that fits into the hot shoe slot is plastic, but I have installed/removed the flash several times and so far so good. Another issue is the battery cover. Most battery covers are hinged, this is actually a plastic square that must be removed completely to insert new batteries and as the batteries are spring loaded it can be difficult to replace this plastic cover. A minor annoyance, but it can prevent the photographer from quickly swapping out batteries if they run out during a session. I will say I am pleased that this product is compatible as advertised, although a flash I have previously purchased has stated that it is compatible and reviews show customers with my camera body using the product with varying degrees of success to have. I love this flash, it suits my needs as an amateur photographer. I do not recommend this flash for those who are just starting out in the business as an amateur. Flash If you're not versatile enough or powerful enough if you want better gear as a hobbyist, spend $20-$40 more if you can afford something with more features. If I had the money I would definitely buy something else. In its current form and as I said, it will suit me, but it is not a standout product. spend $20-$40 more if you can afford something with more features.
