Review on SmallRig 15mm Carbon Fiber Rods (Non-Threaded) - 4 inches, Pack of 2 - 1871: Compatible with 15mm Rod Support Systems by Tommy Abreu

Strong, light and high quality carbon fiber poles

Carbon fibre. The "rods" are actually open tubes with a measured outside and inside diameter of 14.93mm. 11.04mm The tube size was very consistent in length and between the two tubes I received. The fit was perfect on all 15mm system components I tried it with. Although the claimed length was 12 inches, the tubes are clearly made to metric measurements and both are 30.003 cm (11-13/16 inches) long. Relatively thick walls provide high strength with no noticeable deflection under 15kg side loads. The surface finish was very smooth. Each 30cm tube weighed 37g (1.25 oz), only 54% the mass of 15mm anodized aluminum tubes of comparable length. the size is the same. I don't know if these reviews applied to lengths other than 30cm or earlier production batches of tubing. However, the tubes I received (marked with SMALLRIG white paint) had a constant outside diameter of 14.93 mm (less than 0.0028 inch) as measured with a newly calibrated Mitututo Model 193 micrometer (carbide surfaces and resolution/accuracy 0 .01mm. Inside diameters were measured with a Helios caliper with internal scale (0.025mm accuracy). I was really surprised at the accuracy of the tube dimensions. I bought 15mm anodized aluminum tubes and rods and clearly more variety than these carbon fiber tubes. 600 mm telephoto extension Constructed of 30cm carbon fiber tube Attaches a detachable handle to the front and a 38mm Arca-Swiss style clip to the rear for attaching the telephoto lens - heavy but extremely durable and a useful aid in aiming and holding a 7.5 lb lens and field mount the camera.
