Works with Beyers, some mods are needed for better experience.

I bought this microphone to use with the Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro headphones. They also use the 3-pin mini XLR found in AKG headphones. I can confirm this cable works and the channels are correct. Unfortunately, the Beyer connector is rotated 90ยฐ clockwise compared to the AKG. This means the mic doesn't stick out straight, instead it's aimed towards the jawline when connected to the Beyerdynamic. The microphone can still be positioned in an easy-to-use and relatively transparent location. I tested it this way for a while and it still worked fine. Alternatively, you can open the ear cup, loosen the plug slightly and turn it counterclockwise about 90ยฐ before tightening it again. The DT 1990 is very easy to maintain, so the whole process only takes a few minutes. This completely fixed the problem. It's more comfortable, and you get full mic positioning after that quick little adjustment. Based on what I found in my quick tests, the microphone's performance is amazing. The sound quality far exceeds my expectations for a relatively unknown brand. What really surprised me is how well the mic stays in place. Vmoda Boom Pro was decent, but it's way ahead. If you move it to one place, it stays there. Before rotating the jack on the headphones, I maximized the range of motion so I couldn't get the full benefit of it. Now that the mic has just come out, I'm enjoying one of the most flexible mic positions I've ever experienced. The kit includes a microphone cable and a connection cable for audio devices that require separate microphone and headphone inputs. I haven't had to use this yet, but it seems pretty effective. However, a simple Y splitter would probably have better compatibility with more devices. If the connectors are too close together, the adapter will need to be bent to fit. Too far apart and it either won't work or could damage the bushings. I personally would ditch it and buy a cheap Y-splitter if you need one. Windshield not included. I've read some reviews of other versions of this mic and the general consensus was that the windshield was too loose and kept slipping off. I'm not too upset that he was left out of this set. It shouldn't be too hard to mitigate the explosive noise with either an on-the-fly pop filter or careful mic placement. The built-in controls look ok. I made a test recording and turned off the sound. He didn't make offensive claps. I would have preferred only mute than with volume control, but that's a matter of taste. All in all I am very satisfied with this microphone cable. The sound quality is great, the cable feels nice and the length is just right for my needs (can be short in some situations). It's cheaper than most USB mics or a wireless Modmic, and cleaner than using another cable for something like the Modmic Uni. It turned one of my favorite pairs of headphones into a great gaming headset. Affordable, comfortable, good quality. For me it's 5 out of 5.
