Last fall I bought a set of metal valve stem caps to replace the easy-to-thread plastic caps that were available. After the winter months they got stuck in place, making it impossible to unscrew one or two with your fingers. So I decided to replace them as well, hoping they were made from a more corrosion resistant metal like brass. It's too early to assess corrosion resistance, but it should help a lot that they're hexagonal and made of thick metal. As a result, the gripping surface is slightly more durable than the smaller round metal caps it replaced. It's also nice that they come in a set of 8 to have enough spare parts or even to use them on a bike or other vehicle. Update 10/13/20 - There were no problems with it. If necessary, they can be easily unscrewed from the tire bar. Chrome plated brass seems to be a much better choice than aluminum caps. But I believe that the decisive test will be the winter.
