Review on ๐ŸŽ’ Black Travelon Backpack - One Size Backpacks and Casual Daypacks for Travel by Jeff Jackson

More than meets the eye

I bought this backpack for a 3-week trip to Thailand. This qualifies as a backpack in my world. It was just the right size to fit under the seat in front of me on the plane, allowing me to carry just enough to keep me busy but not so much that it weighs me down. It has 1) a vertical zip pocket on one side with an elastic mesh pocket on the inside and room for a small number of items (this is where I kept my bug wipes, emergency medicine and reading glasses) and 2) a water bottle pocket on the opposite side. 3) a square zippered pocket on the back contains pockets that resemble pockets in a wallet: credit card slots and a small zippered pocket, perhaps for loose change or a small wallet; and a long, narrow pencil/pen case. This square zipped bag is protected by a steel mesh in the material to prevent cuts/theft. So I wish there was room for a passport in that particular zippered pocket. Instead, I slip my passport into a 4) zippered pocket in the backpack's "lid" even though there is no steel mesh. I figured it would be close to my head to let me know if something was going on there and I took the opportunity to attach the zip puller to another steel loop to deter mere opening/theft. When I had to leave my backpack unattended on the snorkel boat, I also attached a TIA lock. In the main backpack there were 5) a few more pockets, one roomy with a zipper and one with an elastic mesh. I carried spare batteries and binocular pouches in a zip pocket. In the main part of the backpack I was able to store my good camera, which is quite large, a notepad, a travel journal, my Kindle, a few packets of dried fruit and nuts, a neck pillow (deflated) and two packs of antimicrobial wipes. This pack looks small on arrival but it actually contains quite a lot as I hope I've made clear.

Pros
  • A lot of positive emotions
Cons
  • I have no complaints about it, everything is fine
