Recently bought this item new but not from Revain. First off, the GRX-B coffeemaker (whether for the Highlands or not), as well as other Bunn ten-cup, three-minute coffeemakers, must be left with the water tank heater on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, which according to its own spokesman customer service "only costs about $40-50 a year" because the heating element turns on and off frequently. Therefore, the water must always be on standby, at around 200°F; and so Bunn invented the three-minute coffee pot. I'm not a restaurant owner who needs a super-fast coffee pot and didn't like the idea of constant power consumption. So I tried to work around this, but if you leave the unit off overnight to save energy, the surprise is when you use it in the morning you first have to wait over 15 minutes of preheat time plus brew time to brew a full one Jug Very inconvenient It lacks features common to all coffee machines, such as the anti-drip function for the basket or the water level indicator; The device is disabled. And compared to other machines I've had, I find it awkward to use; Expect coffee drips on the machine and counter daily. Also, it's possible for the basket to overflow horribly mid-brew cycle unless you're using special high-height/high-porosity Bunn filters. So! Bunn wants you to only use their proprietary filters. And if the basket overflows, there's no choice but not to burn yourself, because there's hot water and coffee everywhere. It takes a bit of effort to avoid making mistakes on this device, which I'm not good at early in the morning. Eventually I realized that lifting the filler cap quickly (to stop the flow) might fix the overflow problem, but I had to stand there while the water simmered. However, the overflow problem can be solved by replacing the stock spray head with what Bunn calls his "limited flow spray head". Luckily, Bunn provides a "limited flow spray head" for free, which is the only positive comment I can make on this review. Seriously, who wants to use "non-standard" Bunn filters that are hard to come by. And with a limited-flow spray head installed, the brewing time increases to that of a traditional coffee maker, defeating the purpose of making coffee quickly in the first place. The coffee tastes a little better with the slower spray head, but never as good as the unit I replaced with this unit. With lots and lots of great $60-$70 coffee makers available from Krups, Cuisinart, Hamilton Beach, etc. This counter-intuitive Bunn coffee maker is a very poor and spineless investment at over $100 for the Bunn name.
