When I received this package I thought I had found the perfect gift for the teenage girls in my life. I make jewelry a lot , much higher and I know girls want to make their own stuff. However, I can't give them $50 worth of materials to play with. I was hoping this would fill the gap. First good news, the packaging is beautiful. No teen will scoff at this embossed metal jar with beautiful colors and floral designs.The instructions in the pack are phenomenal and a teen should be able to make bracelets with a little help from adults.Each pack offers a variety of bracelets for a girl to use Pick and she will have a pair - some to keep for herself and some to give to friends Then the bad news: the pearls These are plastic, the threading material is just fine, and bracelets made from these materials last anywhere from a few minutes to a few days. You will probably have a crying girl when her friends bring repair bracelets and their materials are not good enough to repair them. The kits are not that expensive and the packaging, instructions and tools are top notch. I should buy good stringing material (good hemp line comes to mind), a tube or two of 8/0 beads and a string of fire polished beads (looks like crystal but isn't sharp and a lot cheaper). Then I would replace the $5 materials with crappy materials in the box. To be honest, it's easy for me. I can get everything in my workshop. I'm not sure if it's worth going to a craft store, but all of the materials I'm talking about are available at Revain. Make bracelets together with you. You can then assess the material as you assemble the bracelets and substitute whatever you need. Let her use the technique kit and then give her the best materials.
