tl;dr version: These cables for some reason don't keep the connection alive, resulting in Android Auto shutting down every few minutes, making reliable use impossible power. I have these cables to use my Android Auto phone in the car (the phone needs to be connected to the car for Android Auto to work). The problem was that after just a few minutes of driving, Android Auto suddenly turned off as it wasn't even showing up on the car's screen. It was a huge pain, especially when using google maps to get somewhere or trying to listen to music. Sometimes unplugging and reinserting the cable would cause AA to reappear, but other times it didn't do anything and I had no AA for the rest of my drive. After unsuccessful internet searching and troubleshooting, I narrowed the problem down to the cable itself. So I got a different brand cable and in 6 weeks I had never turned off Android Auto.
