These bags smell horrible. They give off an unpleasant odor that fills the whole room. When I contacted the manufacturer, they told me that the bags are perfectly safe to use. I would never eat food with this smell but I am expected to use bags with this smell. I am not new to Mylar bags and have used the services of several manufacturers in the past. I've never had such a smell. I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy them as the manufacturer doesn't support them. Also, I'm not the only reviewer complaining about the smell of these bags. I can't believe anything with such a strong chemical smell is safe. After my bad review I was offered a refund. Update 5/18/21 After separating the components for a few days, I believe the smell was coming from the labels that came with it. I think he soaked everything in the package. I will say that these are very thick bags and well packed. I decided to use them after they stopped smelling so bad as I had a project waiting for them. I found that half of them didn't shrink at all after being sealed with the oxygen scavengers provided. After a few days I trimmed the sides, added another manufacturer's O2 absorber and resealed them. They shrunk as they should. I've made a few more and used the four included absorbers with great success, but putting four is just ridiculous. So here is a real synopsis from a person actually using it for its intended purpose. Pluses are well packed, everything you need is there, the packages are tight. The downsides are the awful smell from the start and the 02 absorbers are pretty pathetic. If you think the price is good for bags only, go for it. Otherwise, you may have to look elsewhere.
