Surprised No: Collars

So I plan to write a long term review. I bought a cheaper vibrating only remote and as much as it helped, the dog ignored me when agitated and the collar battery died in less than a day. I bought this device on the recommendation of Tom Davis (Northern State Canine Academy). Day 1: I'm thrilled! My 2 year old German Shepherd is a very smart dog who can be a bit of an idiot. She staggers but off leash if given an opportunity she would run to play with another dog! No longer! This collar literally made a HUGE change in her. She walked best with heels and even without a leash. Note the device isn't magic and I've been working with it, we had a great connection and the workout was going but this device nailed it. I'll post a video about it tomorrow. Caution: Use the remote control in your hand, with the back of your hand as the palm is sensitive, to get an idea of the levels. I didn't feel anything until level 20 and at level 25 I got quite a shock so I won't do it again. It seemed like the dog only needed 10 on the first day after adjusting to the remote control! If you don't get the reaction you want, make sure your dog understands that they need to do something (lots of videos and guides online) and that the collar is tight enough (but not too tight). Avoid high levels to begin with as I imagine they will be painful and unnecessary if you get your dog to understand the device based on level 25 which I shocked myself with! Sequel follows. December 22nd I am so impressed with the Dogtra that I also ordered the 1900. I think they are great for training your dogs, especially strong breeds and large dogs. The motivation for the 1900 version was water resistance and long range. Unfortunately, my 208C started to become unstable. Layers no longer work accurately. Sometimes level 8 works great, but sometimes even level 25 doesn't stimulate the dog or my skin and then happens to work another time. This is dangerous and unreliable. I've tried brushing/wiping wands, pulling hair back, and doing various stretches. Based on other reviews, I assume a defective device and an exception. Because of the difference to dog training, the processing and the good reviews, I give this article 5 stars. I will review the 1900 device after a month or more of use.
