Intermittent charging problems

I once had charging problems when the battery died and I almost sent it back thinking it was defective. Since then I haven't had this problem anymore. It can last anywhere from a day to a day and a half on a single charge. So if you're planning on taking your dog to the field for a long weekend, I recommend a loading strategy. Otherwise it works as expected.

Easy to use and great product

We have used other Dogtra products and they are all amazing as is this training collar. We have young German Shepherds so we wanted a dual remote to make it easier to control both. Same excellent quality as all Dogtra products and easy to use. I love that it has a vibration option so we don't have to hurt the dogs. The color of the button on the remote control matches the dog's collar.

Two fatal flaws on the collar

Looks well built but two fatal flaws keep me from using it for anything I love. 1) It is absolutely impossible to lock the sensitivity setting and the handle on top can easily bang and severely overstimulate your dog. 2) The two-dog system (ie 282c) does not allow independent individual stimulation settings for each dog. No two dogs have the same stimulation setting. So what should I do, quickly customize on the fly. C'mon Dogstra, correct me if I'm wrong or fix your product to be on the safe…

An essential tool for training your dog

I recently trained my 6 month old German Shepherd and this collar was recommended to me for her further training. I have used the cheaper end of the training collars and this collar exceeds my expectations. This collar allows her to be up to 1/2 mile from me and if she chooses not to listen I can give her a slap on the collar and she will respond quickly. The display allows you to see the exact voltage reading without guessing on the dial. Great collar! I understand why my trainer recommends…

Works great when it works.

I bought this collar after watching dozens of Tom Davis videos and I have to say it has made a huge difference in my dog's behavior. if it works. The problem is that the ecolar doesn't turn off properly from the receiver (yes I've read and re-read the instructions on how to turn off the ecolar and yes I follow them) and has no battery indicator so literally every time I go, to use this collar is dead. Here I am trying to charge it again before walking my dog. Not what I would expect from a $215

Great for off leash walks

I bought this for my puppy. I've been using it for several months now. That works great! The battery life is very long. I charge about once a week. Vibrations are ideal. I use it on the rare occasions when my pup doesn't obey his command. I only have to use the shock part once or twice. I was nervous it might be too intense but I actually had a shock on my own foot before fitting it for a puppy. Start with a low setting and increase as needed. Tougher dogs need more shock but luckily my pup…

A real money saver for us!

This training collar has saved us thousands of dollars! At home, our dog is used to our invisible fence, and before her first trip to our country house, we wanted to install it there, but when the installers came out, it was impossible. So, our son suggested a home-made option, and as soon as we got to the dacha, we immediately installed a border of white flags. We planned to spend a lot of time training her with this great training collar, but it took very little training because she seemed to

Surprised No: Collars

So I plan to write a long term review. I bought a cheaper vibrating only remote and as much as it helped, the dog ignored me when agitated and the collar battery died in less than a day. I bought this device on the recommendation of Tom Davis (Northern State Canine Academy). Day 1: I'm thrilled! My 2 year old German Shepherd is a very smart dog who can be a bit of an idiot. She staggers but off leash if given an opportunity she would run to play with another dog! No longer! This collar…

Not enough power for our big girls.

We bought these special collars for our two black labs. One weighs 81 pounds and the other 93 pounds. Keep in mind that in an emergency this is not the case, for example if your fat dogs are chasing a runner and I mean they are absolutely NOT affected. I cranked that jerk to 127 and they barely swayed. I pulled a muscle in my stomach, yelled at them, pushed the shock buttons like my life depended on it, and they were still chasing the runner (whom they see every morning). The chaos that erupted
