The cord was a bit difficult to figure out how to get it out of the way while driving. In the end we came up with the idea of wrapping it around the front bar next to the front wheel and it works really well. Nobody really tried to steal the bikes so I don't know how secure they really are and hopefully never will. I'm pretty confident about keeping bikes tethered to this system. I think it's a lot easier to have the combination as we don't have to carry the key around and risk losing it. They take up almost all of the space in the middle triangle area and can no longer be used with drinking bottle cages. But I think it's worth it. They feel very sturdy and heavy. They've added weight to the bike, but again, it's worth the reassurance.
