Hard Homemade Ceiling Light Option

As an electrician, I was generally happy with this relatively inexpensive cable and kit. I bought a fancy lampshade and needed an attractive cord that would fit through the top 1cm hole. The cable came out of the box frayed in places (see photos). The review explaining how to rip off the top and insert a paper clip into the wire holes (when pulling the wires) is accurate. By the way, if you tear off the top, it will most likely get a little scratched. The hanging device that came with it didn't work for me. Made a hole in the ceiling but couldn't get the screw deep enough to create tension. I understand this is probably due to me and my lack of know-how - sorry about the hole. This problem would have arisen if I hadn't gone for a more industrial option. I ended up hanging it on the wall with a picture hook. In view of the price, I am generally satisfied with the optics. Treated with a hole in the ceiling.
