Item as described. Great product for the price.

let me tell you first. It didn't have an odor that people complain about. I removed and washed the inner metal lid and also washed the ceramic pot before cooking rice in it. Something seems to have changed. I didn't feel anything while cooking. Except for the smell of rice. The pot is not flimsy as mentioned in some comments. It's bold for what it is. The rice didn't stick to the pan. The cooking seemed instantaneous and didn't seem any different from my old stove which had a non-stick pan. The rice was fried evenly, there were no burned spots on the bottom. This device can prepare up to 6 cups of dry rice. That means you get about 12 cups of cooked rice. This is the smallest cooking amount - TWO CUPS. I wouldn't boil just one cup in it. It probably needs at least two cups of water to function properly and not overheat and crack the pot. Not worth the risk! Most medium to large rice cookers require at least two or more cups of rice. The device is easy to clean. I used it as always rice cooker. I always wait TEN MINUTES after the rice is ready to eat it. The rice is still simmering and really isn't ready when the chimeras ring. This is the rule that my mother has imposed on me since I was a child. As a kid, the only rice cookers I had were those hibachi machines with a knob and a bell that rang when it was done. The same sound used in phones today, like a regular ringing sound. Warm mode 12 hours. You can always drop it to keep warm. Old quality rice pots kept it warm for days. And it seems that it never spoiled for up to three days. I don't know why, but it seems like every new model these days only heats up for 12 or 24 hours. There must be a safety issue when people try to walk too many days and get sick. I only cook white jasmine rice. It turned out perfect. I wait another ten minutes after cooking for the moisture to even out and the rice to finish cooking. You must press the Power/Start button to turn on the device. Then choose the travel mode. Then press the Power/Start button again to start cooking. The device is approximately 11 inches wide at the handle hinges (widest point), 15.5 inches long and 10 inches high. The device works well considering what you are paying for. I got better, but I paid $450 and this company was sold to another Japanese company. has lasted over ten years and the non-stick coating is just starting to peel off. There are no spare parts, so I tried this device. I really didn't like Teflon or aluminum pans. I really like this ceramic pot. Be very careful with it. Getting another one is almost impossible. I was looking for a replacement to have on hand but the aroma was sold out. This pot is more slippery and heavier than traditional metal pots. I understand how it can be dropped. Just make sure to wash the inside of the metal lid and ceramic pot before cooking in it. I cook rice in it at 5000 feet in Colorado. I don't think the altitude affects the cooking process. After twelve hours, the rice at the bottom of the cooker becomes weird. why the warm function only allows 12 hours. If you don't want this, it's probably worth buying a very high-quality model, which is also available from Revain.
