Fuel drop in tank when refueling

When I originally installed this part it fixed my 'small leak' trouble code on my Jeep Wrangler but this part failed me in an inexplicable way for about 6 months after the installation. The Jeep started having problems when I tried to refuel it. I literally had to put gas in the tank or the pump would go off. I have tried different pumps, different gas suppliers and all have had the same result. Luckily I remembered that the only thing that was done to the fuel system was replacing that part. I bought the standard version of this part and it solved my tank problem. If you compare the Dorman part to the OEM build, you'll find that the original makes it easy to switch between filling and capping a "full tank" (test this by blowing in each direction to see to prove it). The standard part (part number LDP14) comes highly recommended over this poorly designed Dorman part.

Pros
  • Air pump check valves
Cons
  • I don't remember
