Zoo Med Natural Round Small Review

After reading the reviews I decided to take a chance and order a round plug believing that whatever size I get I can use it in one of several different terrariums (my daughter has lizards, snakes and skinks of various shapes and sizes). The piece we received is large enough for your North Australian blue-tongued skink. We cut it in half and use the half circles as skins in their terrarium. I have included photos showing measurements before cutting.

Some previous reviews bothered me. Tales of a broken cork, poor handling, no padding. It doesn't seem to be the case anymore! My order was wrapped in bubble wrap so it could be wrapped at least 3 times. No damage, hose intact. There was some kind of clog inside, which is honestly what I expect from small cork tubes. Nothing a long probe couldn't knock out! I saw no mold, no spiders, no fellow passengers. As I write this I have unclogged and baked in the oven for the safety of my centipedes. It…

Decent product but I have a few minor issues.1. Came with mold so I had to clean it with soap and water and a toothbrush before baking at 175C for 1.5 hours to dry gently.2. Cracked in places so I got a few splinters and cracks trying to remove a small piece of tarantula skin. If you plan to trim it, be sure to use a rotary tool. The real question is will I buy from these guys again? I think so, but if the problems (mainly with mold) were permanent I would probably look for other suppliers that

When it says 'small' it means the SMALL piece I received was barely big enough to fit a coin in the inner diameter and about 6 inches long. The other piece I received was a knee, also about 6 inches long but with a much larger internal diameter until it broke in half to the touch when removing it from the packaging. Large cork bark arrived today and I couldn't be happier! I got an almost perfect shape and a symmetrically round, hollowed-out tree trunk. I easily cut it lengthways with a drywall saw using a piece about 2/3 of the circle and used that piece as the skin of my little boa constrictor. The piece I received was over 7 inches long but only on one side. On the other side a large piece was missing and was less than 5 inches. Inside the piece is just under 2" at the opening, but further down it gets very narrow (maybe 1 1/4" at best?). Unfortunately my daughter's lizard can't use it as fur due to the shape and missing part of the tube. I ended up using it in front of some plants to hold back the soil. I didn't exchange it for fear of getting a worse piece. I will not buy this size

Exactly what I needed. I have a good strong piece of cork with a hole in it. It wasn't as long and skinny as I expected, but a bit shorter and stockier. It is in order. It's a natural product, so you never know what you're going to get. I wish it was better packaged. I was lucky and the postman was actually nicer than usual that day so unlike many packages it arrived intact, just lying in the box with no newspaper to soften it up or anything.
