I bought this because I was looking for an alternative to plastic free personal care products. I mainly chew xylitol gum to keep my teeth clean and strong. (Xylitol is clinically proven to strengthen tooth enamel.) I've used plain baking soda and it's fine, just wanted to try something different. I can't believe I've never tried charcoal toothpowder. I am shocked at the efficiency. My teeth feel very smooth and clean after a quick brushing and definitely look whiter and lighter. It also has a mint flavor, which is nice. I recommend having some water in your mouth and on your toothbrush to start with. You just have to remember that the black saliva doesn't stain or drown your skin; just rinse it off immediately.
