We bought this coffee maker to replace our 19 year old Proctor Silex coffee maker which still worked. Eventually the carafe broke and we decided to replace it entirely. Proctor-Silex is back on top! The "Pause and Serve" function is great, the pan doesn't drip at all and best of all: There is no annoying "safety feature" that switches off the pan after 2 hours. We hooked the kettle up to a standard light timer so the coffee maker turns on in the morning and stays on late into the night - no need to bother with the unreliable timers that most coffee makers have built in. The brewed coffee is just fantastic. The device is almost silent until the end of the brewing process, when the last drops of water have been brewed. Buy this coffee maker. 5 Stars.
