My kids are 3 and 4 and they love them. What they like most is the little light it brings. It's great for teaching my kids the basics of portable radios. The small lace closure breaks easily. I ended up buying some keychain loops for the lanyard. Should hold up well! I highly recommend! My daughter chose pink, my son chose green (for the Hulk) and I chose blue. A treat at home, in the park or on casual adventures. 5/5 recommend. Even with cord and plastic. He's too long lived. The walkie-talkies themselves are made of soft-touch plastic. It's even nice to have my friends and I next to me!
