I really like the gel material on this coaster, but as for the shape of the others, I didn't think it made sense. The middle of the rest is widest, and then the width tapers on either side toward the ends, like a really flat "D". This gives a nice visual effect, but I don't think it's practical when I put the rest on the keyboard - maybe if my wrists should get smaller the farther I put my hands on the keyboard? I think the idea is to move the rest of the keyboard away from the keyboard so it rests more under my forearms - which would make sense since traditional typing lessons tell us that we really shouldn't rest our wrists while typing. I turned the rest so that the flat end was facing me and the edge of my desk and keyboard were about 1 inch from the rest. This allows the support to be the same height for both wrists.
