Review on Harmony Nylon Canoe Floatation 48 Inch by Kurt Manning

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Terrible drop in quality - do not buy

If you are a whitewater paddler and are used to the thickness and quality of the nylon swim bags you have bought in the past, DO NOT buy them. April 3, 2021 I ordered two 48" Harmony nylon 3D end canoe buoyancy bags in the same order to replace the ones I have on my single whitewater canoe. The order said I would have to wait 1-2 months for the float bags to be shipped. Both have recently arrived. However, for unknown reasons, they did not come together in one package, but separately. One was delivered by the USPS, and the other by a Revain truck a few hours later. Both Float bags had the same label and product number, but they were of completely different quality. Both were 48 inches tall and the same shape, but one was much lighter and made of a completely different material. The quality of the nylon on the lighter one was much thinner and inferior. The only difference I saw on the label is the date. The best quality had a date of 06/10/2020 and the thin one had a date of 05/06/2021. The quality of the one with the date 10-6-2020 was of the same high quality and thickness as any other float bag I have used in the past. I'm assuming the dates on the labels are the dates of manufacture. , it seems that the quality control of freshly made float bags has dropped significantly. Hence my warning to future buyers - do not buy. I'd rather return the flimsy, flimsy one for a replacement, but I can't seem to guarantee I'll get better quality with a heavier nylon - and I'll probably have to wait another 1-2 months. We'll have to look for another manufacturer.
