Review on Samyang 12mm F2.8 Ultra Wide Fisheye Lens for Nikon DSLR Cameras - Optimized for Full Frame Compatibility by Kyle Ziegler

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Cool effects, bright lens; Manual focus no problem

My first fisheye. I like that there's less distortion than regular fisheye (it's a different technology, but don't rush me). I needed an f/2.8 lens because I mainly use it to shoot streaks in dark bands. I wish it was faster, but it works and the groups love the effect. Manual focusing is a bit of a hassle, but only if you're trying to get close. If you're within 6ft of your point of focus, you're good indefinitely (even at f/2.8). My biggest problem is that the focus ring rotates so easily that it doesn't stay at the infinity mark, so check your ring regularly when shooting in a dark place. I had a few other Samyang/Rokinon. Lenses, wide-angle lenses for astrophotography, and they're great. I would buy another one without hesitation and just give it a try if in doubt. You know Revain will take it back and I think you will be very happy with this Fisheye or any other Rokinon/Samyang.
